So today is the first day of november and im sitting at work wondering how much longer.  I took a look at the last time I have signed on to here and just comes to show how lazy I have been in updating my blog.

Currently my life is going alright.  Still working two jobs.  Since I have been at Days Inn I have worked merely every shift possible except the housekeeping & maintenance shifts.  I have enough laundry and cleaning to do at the house so I think I am good on that.  When it comes to maintenance I am usually volunteered to help my husband with a challenging task.  Last challenging task was inserting steel post in the driveway and pouring cement down the stell post.  The next upcoming task will be to make a concrete path for the trashcan as well as from the driveway to the sidewalk.  There is one at the end but most people just cut across the grass and thus ends up damaging part of the grass.  As to the other job I have moved up to the Tech department. Majority of the coworkers who were in my training class have either given up, relocated, or gotten fired.  To this day there are 3 remaining out of 12.  Out of the remaining coworkers I am the only one to have moved up in the position.  I love my job as I often feel that there is alot I have to offer for the job.  IF I were to ever leave the position I think that I would want to work for blackberry or move to an office administrative job.

The holidays are coming up so that means it is time to start my christmas shopping.  The other day Chris commented how I was in charge of christmas gifts....I looked at him and said I had that job last year and thanked him for giving me the privelage to do it again.  The only challenege now is to get the list.  I have a rough I idea of what to get but want to make sure it is something they will like.

I am thankful to have a husband who loves me and is willing to put up with me at the time of cranky moments.  He has been very good to me and I am greatful to have a man such as him in my life.  We survived the first year of marriage by making a trip to San Antonio and go tubing down the comal river.  The ride was very bumpy as many of you may remember the lakes and rivers were low.  Needless to say if we go again it will be early in the summer time.  Apparently though you can go year round as it will be 86 degrees; however, I don't think I would be going in January or February.

Well can't really think of anything else to right as the guests should be arriving to the lobby within the next 30 minutes and I will hopefully be going home at 7.  Positive side of tonight was I got an extra hour since it was daylights saving time.  Downside....didn't get to hand out candy to trick or treaters cause I had to go home and sleep inorder to have enough energy for this shift 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. and turn around to be back at 5 p.m.  Not sure if I would have heard the trick or treaters over the Texas vs. Oklahoma State with a broken doorbell!

Hot Air + Vacation

Posted by The Millets

So Monday night we stayed up packing for our departure to San Antonio for the first family vacation.  As we walk thru the house contemplating what all we should take with us the electricity goes off.  The first thought was ok did they not get the bill for the electricity because we sent it off well far in advance.  So at that point we knew that it definitely wasn't the electricity.  We walk around the house and come to the realization after flipping the breakers to get the power to come back on in the living room that our air conditioner has finally bit the dust. The positive side is the fact that even though the air conditioner went out the following day after work we would be heading to San Antonio for a family vacation.  The negative side is the fact that now we have to come up with the money to buy a new ac unit.  Not to sure how that is gonna happen considering how expensive they are.  Most of the time people can just have someone replace the outside unit on their house.  The house we live in is however not so blessed because the previous owner didn't take such good care of the vents.  So basically we are looking at having to purchase a new unit for the inside, outside and replacing all of the vents inside the house.    Good thing there are fans.  I think Monday night we slept with 3 fans in the bedroom and it wasn't too bad.  We can only imagine how the people back in the early 1900s were able to survive the heat.

Tueady night we arrived in San Antonio and were greatful to be in a house with air conditioning.  Bud was very happy to be in a house with air conditioning.

Wednesday we were a little lazy around the house and didn't do too much as it was the first day of vacation.  The most memorable part of Wednesday was the fact that my sister in law has decided to start getting in to shape as she is joing the airforce.  So for those who are in the service recall the wonderful challenge of being able to run a mile.  To help prepare for this she has started getting herself into shape for the military.  One way she has decided to get herself into shape was to start walking.  After dinner on wednesday night she wanted to go for a walk so i offered to go for a walk thru McAllister Park.  Our goal was to go for 6-7 miles.  As we wandered thru the park it wasn't too hot, there was a breeze and the scenary wasn't too bad considering we saw lots of deer wandering thru.  Walking thru the park though there were several different routes to take...so yes we got lost.  We walked a good distance and were hoping that sooner or later we would end up getting back to the original entrance of the park.  Thankfully I took my cell phone so that if we needed anything we could call for someone to come and pick us up.  So as you can guess we had to have our husbands come pick us up.  Next time i think ill take the blackberry since it has google maps and this way i can just find out where we are and be able to navigate back towards the house.

Thursday we went for a relaxing day.  We went tubing down the comal river.  It was definitely an interesting day.  We packed lunches, chips, & drinks for a 5 hour tubing ride.  Sunscreen was packed for certain but was definitely an option for those who wanted to wear it.  Needless to say those that chose not to wear any sunscreen were willing to pay the price of choosing not to wear any and see what color their skin was later that day.  The tubing ride was definitely a long ride but lots of fun.  I am definitely glad we went when we did.  Had we gone sooner there probably would have been  more water in the river but with the work schedules its a little difficult.  So needless to say by the end of the trip the women were doing alright with the color they were getting from the sun.  The men however choose not to be so cool with the sunscreen and ended up having portions of their body looking like lobsters.  Everyone definitely got sun that is for certain.

Friday...a day of relaxing from the 5 hours of tubin in the river.  Currently all of the kids are out of the house at a coffee shop using the free wifi because at the millet house there is only 1 computer and 1 source of internet connection.....dial up.  Hopefully we won't be up here too long today since I would like to be able to go back out in the sun to make all of my body an equal color!

update on the millets

Posted by The Millets

So apparently it has been since february since i last blogged.  Crazy to have not remembered to been putting any posts on my blog.  Since my last blog I have been employed as a customer service representative at Convergys for AT&T.  I survived my 5 weeks of training, 2 weeks of transition, and 6 months of employment at Convergys.  After my 6 month employment with Convergys I felt it was time to move up in the company.  So now I am a tier 2 technical agent.  In english that means more troubleshooting beyond a customer service representative.  I became a tech agent about 3 weeks ago.  The moment I came to work at AT&T I have loved it.  Sometimes calls can be frustrating but the fact of assisting people is something I love.

The best part I love about my job is that you don't get vacation available til you earn it.  So in other words I only taken 1-2 days of vacation since january.  For this I am very thankful to say that we are going on a vacation...to San Antonio.  We are going to be staying with the in-laws but it is something I have been looking forward to.  Plans are to go to the Comal River and take a float down the river.  Most of all we love the fact that we will be able to go down there and spend more than just 1 night.  Hopefully I can come back with some sun since I work in a building that has very few to limited windows!  Nevertheless, while we are down in San Antonio plans are to celebrate our 1st year of being married!  Thanks again to everyone who helped make it happen!

Chris is still working for the lawyers but is seeking a more challenging job.  He longs to do architectural work or more in depth computer technology.  Not sure what is available hear in Waco but apparently people seem to think that Waco is the place for everyone to move if they are seeking to start over.

1 life saved

Posted by The Millets

So far the weekend has been alot better than the past few days at work in mcgregor.  Thursday was drama at work and at that point I almost threw in the towel cause I had already dealt with the drama in training.  For those of you who don't know I survived 5 weeks of training to become a customer service agent.  I have never worked in a call center before in my life.  I choose to take this job as it would be a good learning experience.  For some reason or another I have always enjoyed learning new things and taking on a challenge.  In my life I feel my biggest accomplishment is being trained to run a half marathon.  From that moment I have taken on the challenge of working at a hotel, being a nanny, and now im learning how to work in a call center.  Working in a call center for AT&T has been challenging & fun.  I find it challenging as there are somethings I don't know about AT&T even though they are my mobile carrier.  The fun part is the fact that ther are other people who are interested in this area of life.  I would have to say the biggest drawback is the big blue tent...I call it the cancer stick center.  When I applied I had never seen so many people out smoking and to this day there are still lots of them.

Enough about my job.  I almost thought I was going to be without a dog this evening.  While on 2 wheels my husband was walking the dog and on the way home he managed to escape from the harness.  Once he got out he took a mad dash!  At that point I got a phone call to chase after him on the bike.  THANK THE LORD there weren't any cars cause when I got onto Bagby he was running in the middle of the road.  Not really sure what got into him but he was definitely hauling it.  Again THANK THE LORD I was able to pedal fast enough to catch up with him and get him.  Had I not been on bike im not sure what I would have done.  Needless to say someone got a beating and their harness was tightened to prevent further incidents.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

I survived training!

Posted by The Millets

So after 5 weeks of training at convergys.  I am definitely looking forward to 2 weeks of transition.  Several of the people in my class were either older generations or younger generations.  I'd have to say I met lots of people inside and outside of my training class.  After surviving my training class I can honestly say I have made 1 true friend.  Many students in my class I thought were friends but found out shortly they were only there to stab me right in the back.

On a side note I also managed to work 2 jobs...the hotel & convergys.  Not really sure how much longer my husband will allow me to work it but we shall see.  My schedule for the next month isn't my favorite but im hoping to get on the early shift.  I don't really care for the late shift other than the fact of sleeping in for some extra hours; however, i only get to see my husband from the time i get home at night to bedtime.  Thankfully the schedule isn't permanent so i'll be looking forward to the schedule change.

Hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day!
